Senior Refuge Caseworker

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse.  We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Refuge Caseworker to join our leadership team and ensure the delivery of our high quality safe accommodation offer including:  

  • The smooth and secure running of our safe accommodation support services;
  • Maintaining and developing relevant policies, processes and procedures, incl. safeguarding;
  • Ensuring our safe accommodation is welcoming, and our support programmes are person-centric and supportive of our aims and principles;
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping for all service activities and preparation of impact reports;
  • Motivating the casework team and leading by example;
  • Being part of our organisation leadership team and actively contributing to the organisation’s development ambitions.

You must hold a relevant level 3 qualification or have equivalent experience, possess strong leadership skills and experience of safeguarding and managing risk issues for vulnerable people in the supported housing sector.  If you believe that you have the qualities and skills to meet this exciting opportunity, we would like to hear from you.

Main purpose of the post: 

  • To be responsible for ensuring the safe, day to day delivery of high quality support including safeguarding, to residents in our safe accommodation including our dispersed properties;
  • Develop and implement a safe accommodation programme of change, which supports self-governance, empowerment and user involvement to support progression to independent living;
  • Leadership and line management of the safe accommodation caseworker team.

GP Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

Stockport Without Abuse is a highly regarded, specialist charity educating, supporting and empowering individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. We are seeking an experienced, committed and creative GP IDVA to join our amazing team. If you believe that you have the qualities and skills to meet this challenging and exciting opportunity, we would like to hear from you.

Main purpose of the post: 

  • To provide high quality support to survivors of domestic abuse who make a disclosure to their GP practice team. You will work in collaboration with domestic abuse support providers within the community and in a refuge setting to make sure victims have access to the most relevant and appropriate support.
  • To educate GP practice teams to help spot the signs of abuse and to facilitate safe disclosure from victims within their practice.
  • To work closely with GP practice teams and SWA to monitor and evaluate the service and make improvements and recommendations.
  • To work with other professionals and agencies to have the safety of victims and their families at the forefront of the support, whilst following a MARAC and local partnership framework.
