Domestic Abuse Support Worker

  • Provisional 12-month contract, subject to change
  • 37 hours per week full-time role

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse.  We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join our Community team, working as part of a partnership with Talk Listen Change (TLC), Age UK Stockport and Stockport Homes. This role provides a single point of contact and works with people to reduce the risk of domestic abuse

  • Provide advice, guidance, and challenge to build resilience and ensure people have networks in place to self-manage and live independently for the future;
  • Help people find their own solutions, and co-develop personal plans to motivate people to achieve their goals and improve their wellbeing and independence;
  • Work innovatively and where necessary assertively with people to help them achieve agreed outcomes, building upon their existing strengths and support networks.

Senior IDVA

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse.  We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to lead our IDVA team and be part of our Leadership team. The post holder will hold responsibility around service delivery and development, providing high-quality frontline support to victims of domestic abuse and delivering a proactive service approach to those at high risk.

Main purpose of the post: 

  • Ensure that there is a consistent delivery of services to survivors, including risk assessment, safety planning, support planning and referrals to other agencies and MARACs by allocating and monitoring work across the team;
  • Influence and develop responses to improve services to victims of domestic violence and abuse, and develop and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation systems;
  • Be involved in the recruitment, selection, induction and retention processes or all staff reporting directly to you, and contribute direct to staff development and training.

Senior Refuge Caseworker

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse.  We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Refuge Caseworker to lead our Refuge team and be part of our Leadership team. The post holder will hold responsibility around service delivery and development, providing high-quality frontline support to victims of domestic abuse and delivering a proactive service approach to those in need of emergency refuge accommodation.

Main purpose of the post: 

  • Deliver the smooth and secure day-to-day running of our safe accommodation support services, and ensure that our safe accommodation is welcoming, and our support programmes are person-centric and supportive of our aims and principles;
  • Develop and implement a safe accommodation programme of change, which supports self-governance, empowerment and user involvement to support progression to independence;
  • Motivate the casework team and lead by example as their line manager;
  • Be a part of our organisation leadership team and actively contribute to the organisation's development ambitions.
