Female Advocate Educators - ADViSE   (Assessing for Domestic Violence and Abuse in Sexual Health Environments)

 6 Advocate Educators (AE), 1 Coordinator/AE, 1 Senior AE

  • Fixed term contract 12 months with possible extension dependent upon funding
  • Various contracts: 32, 35 and 37 hours per week
  • Salary £27,741 - £29,577

The ADViSE project is a collaboration between IRIS ADViSE, Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women’s Aid), Stockport Without Abuse, Trafford Domestic Abuse Services and Jigsaw Support. 

We are looking individuals who are highly motivated to liaise closely with sexual health clinics, provide training for clinicians and offer emotional and practical support to patients who are affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience of working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
  • An understanding of the gendered nature of violence and abuse, and of the impact of multiple, intersecting oppressions (e.g. sexism, racism, homophobia, ableism, etc) and the consequent barriers to accessing support services
  • Experience of promoting services and building strong working relationships with external organisations
  • Experience of delivering training to a range of professionals
  • An empathetic approach
  • A full driving licence and access to transport.

Refuge Caseworker

Stockport Without Abuse is a highly regarded specialist charity, raising awareness of domestic abuse, supporting and empowering individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a skilled caseworker to deliver high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and abuse in our safe accommodation, including our refuge and dispersed properties.  Support will focus on enabling individuals and families to stay safe, develop and maintain positive relationships that promote their wellbeing, and prevent, reduce or delay the need to access statutory services, plus offer support through the re-housing process.

Main purpose of the post: 

Working holistically with people who may have complex and multiple needs, the Refuge Caseworker will make interventions to help build upon existing personal strengths and support networks to enhance resilience, develop self-esteem and minimise victims threat of harm to themselves or others.

Children and Young Peoples Worker – Community

Stockport Without Abuse is a highly regarded specialist charity, raising awareness of domestic abuse, supporting and empowering individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a Children and Young Peoples Worker to work with children and families in  community accommodation to:

  • increase children’s recognition of their feelings (including physical/somatic sensations)
  • increase children’s vocabulary and ability to explain their feelings
  • increase children’s socialisation skills
  • validate feelings, and help children to understand that it’s okay to have different and/or very strong feelings
  • support children to develop helpful strategies to express feelings in ways that are safe
  • strengthen positive parenting skills and build positive relationships

You must have experience of developing and delivering outcome based children and parent sessions, and be able to work creatively and collaboratively to a high standard. If you believe that you have the qualities and skills to meet this challenging opportunity, we would like to hear from you.

Main purpose of the post: 

As our Children and Young Peoples Worker, you will be responsible for developing and delivering meaningful, interactive and supportive one to one and small group sessions with children and young people aged 3-16 in community housing settings, who have been affected by domestic abuse, focusing on validating feelings, and helping children develop strategies to express their feelings in ways which are safe.

You will also be supporting parents in supporting their children in transition to a new living environment and promoting and building working links and relationships with other child and family focused agencies in the locality and wider community, particularly health visitors, maternity team and safeguarding services to establish a multi-agency response supporting children affected by domestic abuse.
