Trauma Informed Counselling Practitioner

  • Fixed term 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension subject to funding
  • Full time 37 hours per week (some out of hours work might be expected)
  • Flexible working could be accommodated
  • Salary pro-rata of £26,470 per annum, plus contribution towards clinical supervision

Stockport Without Abuse is a highly regarded, specialist charity educating, supporting and empowering individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

We have a vacancy to join our specialist domestic abuse team to deliver interventions to support victims of domestic abuse with complex needs and a history of trauma to improve their mental health.

Main purpose of the post: 

To deliver a range of 1:1 trauma informed counselling interventions to victims of domestic abuse with complex needs. The aim is to support victims in understanding the impact of complex trauma, reduce symptoms of trauma and improve mental health and well-being.

Female Advocate Educator - Assessing for Domestic Violence and Abuse in Sexual Health Environments (ADViSE)

  • Fixed term 12-month contract
  • Full time 37 hours per week
  • Salary £27,741 per annum

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated to liaise closely with sexual health clinics, provide training for clinicians and offer emotional and practical support to patients who are affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience of working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
  • An understanding of the gendered nature of violence and abuse, and of the impact of multiple, intersecting oppressions (e.g. sexism, racism, homophobia, ableism, etc) and the consequent barriers to accessing support services
  • Experience of promoting services and building strong working relationships with external organisations
  • Experience of delivering training to a range of professionals
  • An empathetic approach
  • A full driving licence and access to transport.
